Entertainment and island activities
Corfù is the most northern of the seven Ionian
Islands, hence guarding the narrow southern end of the Adriatic Sea. It lies just west of the
point where Albania borders with mainland Greece.
An Italian said that Asprochori is an island within the green island of Corfù and Asprochori's
tranquil surroundings are certainly all that is needed for those who wish to escape the stresses
of their normal lives. But the island offers many sporting activities as well as its beautiful
natural environment.
The wilder western coast of Corfù is a striking contrast to the sheltered waters of Corfù's
eastern gulf, with its sandy beaches, high cliffs and agitated open sea. There are more than 120
miles of beaches but everyone should take time to explore the island's interior. Millions of olive
trees were planted during the Venetian occupation adding to the natural vegetation of cypress
trees and pinewoods.
