Unique Resorts Greek tourist village
Asprochori began when the Greek owner married an
Italian architect forty years ago. At that time, foreigners were restricted from visiting the
north eastern part of the island there was a police control at Pirgi so the project was shelved
until 1972 when the original idea of creating a Greek village for tourists could finally be
realised.
The name Asprochori (which means white village)
reflects their original aim of building a small villa-complex in a typically Mediterranean style,
as opposed to the more mundane hotels and villas that were being built at that time. They wanted
to build a village that was not only architecturally more interesting but also to create an
atmosphere evocative of the white houses and archways, flowered terraces and winding streets of
the inland hamlets of Greece.
